Although there are different models of voltage comparator chips, I will discuss a very common comparator, the LM Introduction to comparators, their parameters and basic applications. The 1K resistor is not necessary and you could connect it directly to the Arduino lm393pp it shouldn’t hurt operation either so you can leave it there. Now to get it to work with my photodiodes. If your Arduino is reading both states, 0 and 1, your comparator may be OK.

If you’re talking about the other side of the comparator, I’m just using one side at the moment. This makes the LM suitable with a 9 V battery, since this battery has a voltage range of approximately 5 V to 10 V.

I see that in the picture it is actually the wrong way around probably too. Undoubtedly, the most significant information about a comparator chip is how to connect the pins to the rest of the components in a circuit.

To add some info, originally I was using photodiodes to compare the outputs of two of them and send the result to the Arduino. Writing with the digital ports, high and low, alternated by a second, I got the comparator to play nice. Okay, thanks for your input. If the first point has a higher voltage than the second point, the switch is turned on.

It measures voltages at two different points and compares the difference in quantity of voltage. Operation from dual supplies also is possible as long as the difference between the two supplies is 2 V to 36 V, and V CC is at least 1.
Since the LM comparator chip is too small for an indication of the pins to be printed, the datasheet has an illustrated figure, a pinout, which shows the location and function of each pin.
Product is in volume production only to support customers ongoing production. The other comparator should be configured so that the output is high-impedance. One thing I am concerned about, is that the marking on the comparator isn’t the same as in the datasheet. Production processing does not necessarily include testing of all parameters.
